To turn around and see what looks like ourselves
Thoughts of secrecy in us dwell
We sing our own song for an audience to hear
The story floating in the air by ear
If the right words could play a melody in my head
I would sing it everyday so I don’t feel so bad
The music in me is my one relief
To hold on to sanity, to have a belief
I lean against a shoulder, the time standing
My mind somewhere else only dreaming
I fall on my knees and reach for a hand
Now when I try, I grasp the air instead
Wander back to a memory you’ve had before
You walked in the room and found me on the floor
Pick me up, take my heart and place it to your ear
Do you listen for the beat that proves I’m still here?
Landing in your arms out of breath
What is it like to live like you did?
Waking up without a thought intact
The song in me says, “Don’t look back.”

It’s very moving.
Thanks. It’s older stuff. :)
